TEACHING STAFF (Alphabetical by first name) 

 

Alison Devine - Year 1 Form Teacher

Alison completed a French degree from the University of Victoria and an Education degree from the University of British Columbia. Alison has been lucky enough to teach in Canada and France, gaining teaching experience with a variety of primary ages. Her hobbies include golf, snowboarding and travel.

 

Anastasia Antonopoulou – Senior MFL Teacher

Anastasia is a multilingual teacher of French and Greek. She graduated from the University of Athens having studied French and obtained a Maîtrise from the University of Angers in teaching French as a foreign language and PGCE in Modern Languages from Oxford Brookes University. She is currently studying towards a Masters in Education. She has lived and worked teaching languages in Greece, France and Britain during the last 12 years.

 

Anne Russell - Latin Teacher

Annie studied Latin and classical Greek at Newcastle University and went on to do a PGCE in classics at Cambridge University. She initially worked in publishing and the commercial art world but returned to teaching after a couple of years. Over the last 15 years she has taught classics (as well as English as a foreign language and outdoor education) in England as well as Italy, Australia and Bermuda. 5 years ago she gained an MA in Mediterranean archaeology from Bristol University for which she spent time conducting research in Athens and Crete. Annie says that learning Latin has been really helpful throughout her life when she's come to learn other languages - French, Spanish and Italian.

 

Christine Lane Fox - Reception Teacher (Maternity Leave) 

Christine completed a B.A. in Architectural Studies with a minor in Anthropology at the University of Kansas in America. Throughout her university studies, she worked assisting with different levels of education before moving to the UK in 2004. She completed her Graduate Teacher Programme and achieved qualified teacher status at the University of London's Institute of Education. She joined Knightsbridge School in October 2006 and is now teaching in the Foundation Stage.

 

Corinna Harris-Prior – Head of Creative Arts, Music Teacher 

Corinna was educated at Cambridge University and at the Royal College of Music where she was awarded major prizes and awards. In 1999 she was made a Junior Fellow of the Royal College of Music. She has taught music at Ibstock Place School for 12 years and was appointed Director of Music at Hellenic College, London in 2004. Corinna also pursues a very busy performing schedule as a solo clarinetist, performing throughout the world and broadcasts on radio / TV. Her other instruments are piano, singing and recorder. Corinna is in demand as a chamber music coach, master class leader and competition judge.

 

Domingo Benasco Pérez - Spanish and French Teacher

Domingo studied translation and interpreting at the Universidad de Las Palmas, where he did the teaching training too. He has valuable experience teaching English as a foreign language in Spain, plus French and Spanish in France, Spain and the UK. For him, it is essential to speak a foreign language as it helps to understand the world.

 

Dawn Baker – Science Technician, Teaching and Learning Assistant

Dawn specialised in Food Science and she worked for several years in the pathology lab of a central London hospital. After taking a break to have two children she decided to move into education and became qualified, working for 11 years as an Early Years Practitioner. In 2002 she came to work at Hellenic College London as Science Technician for the whole school and Teaching Assistant in the Early Years classes and continues in these roles at Knightsbridge School.

 

Ed Lewis - Teaching and Learning Assistant 

After leaving Epsom College, Ed went on to graduate from Leeds University in 2006 in Environmental Management. Following that he obtained a place studying for a Masters at Oxford Brookes University in Real Estate Management and qualified with merit in 2007. Ed started working for a chartered surveying firm in London which was hit by the economic crisis and soon found himself off in the French Alps for two winters. Ed is extremely passionate about most sports but in particular rugby, cricket and squash and has travelled extensively across Asia and Australasia.

 

Emily Langly-Smith - Year 2 Form Teacher 

Emily studied Spanish and Latin at the University of Edinburgh, during which time she spent a year teaching in a primary school in Madrid.  After graduating she worked in public relations for several years before following her calling to become a teacher and training at Roehampton University.  Emily is committed to ensuring that every child's unique talents are celebrated and nurtured in a friendly and positive learning environment, so that each child may grow into a confident and happy young person.  Emily loves all sport, especially tennis, and is an enthusiastic cook in her spare time.

 

Emma Grant - Teaching and Learning Assistant

Emma has been at Knightsbridge School for several years working as a Teaching Assistant specialising in teaching primary age children. She previously worked in a school in Fulham for 4 years as a Teaching Assistant.

 

Francesca Spagnoli - Italian Teacher 

Francesca is a graduate in Modern Languages from Florence University and holds the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English. In 2002 she started working as a private Italian Tutor and eventually completed her teacher training at International House in 2006. Francesca has lived in Italy, Switzerland, France and the U.S.A. and has resided in London since 1999 with her husband and two delightful sons.

 

Fred deFalbe - Year 7 Form Teacher

In 1988, Fred gained a BA in Theology at the University of Manchester and went into the film business, but his teaching career began before that in Honduras, during his year off. In 1993 he qualified with a PGCE at the Institute of Education in London and for 8 years worked in state secondary schools, teaching English and Humanities and as a Head of Department.  He has been inspired to rejoin the profession by the enthusiasm and energy of Knightsbridge School, after running a small property company in Devon, where he lives with his wife and three children. He is loving it!

 

Gemma Torrance - Nursery Teacher

Gemma initially realised her love for the Early Years when she gained experience working in two schools in Sydney on her Gap Year. She went on to complete her degree at Oxford Brookes University in Sports and Coaching; her specialty sport being hockey. Gemma then attended Manchester Metropolitan University to gain her Early Years Professional Status. She joined KS in September 2008 as an Assistant in Reception for a year and then became the Elephants class teacher in the Nursery. She is looking forward to starting a second year with a new set of Elephants!

 

Gillian Conlon - Head of Nursery

After a career in finance, Gill decided on a change of direction and taught for 15 years at Young England Kindergarten in Pimlico before joining Knightsbridge School where she ran the Dolphins group. Gill is now the brave teacher in charge of the Lions class in Knightsbridge School's nursery.

 

Grazia diPalma - Teaching and Learning Assistant

Grazia assists with the Nursery, having gained NVQ 2 qualified status. She has been working with children for more than 15 years and has experience teaching children with special needs and as a private Italian tutor. She is very passionate and dedicated to helping children develop their potential and enjoys her teaching immensely.

 

Henrietta Berens - Year 5 Form Teacher, Head of Senior School

After graduating from Bristol University with a BA in History of Art, Henrietta went on to Roehampton to achieve Qualified Teacher Status. She then spent 6 months in South America, learning to speak Spanish and having a lovely time before returning to London and teaching. Henrietta has joined us from Burdett Coutts Primary School where she taught Year 4 for two years. She was also responsible for teaching Spanish to Years 3 and 4.  

 

Isabel Maitland - Teaching and Learning Assistant

Isabel read History at Bristol University and graduated in 2003. She moved to London and started her working life in an advertising agency. She worked in the advertising industry for five and a half years before having a  change of heart. It was during her time making TV ads for children that she realised that working with children all of the time, rather than just occasionally, would be a really challenging, fun and inspiring job. She joined Knightsbridge in September 2009 as a Teaching Assistant and is looking forward to a rewarding new career.

 

Jennifer Hepton - Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Jennifer hails from Vancouver, BC and is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in Education. She has 9 years teaching experience, 2 years of which were spent teaching in London in 2004/5. Jennifer has experience teaching across the primary Key Stages concentrating, over several years, on EAL and Special Educational Needs. Throughout her career, Jennifer has focused on early intervention and inclusive teaching and mentoring practices and has recently graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Post Baccalaureate in Special Needs. Jennifer believes in a holistic teaching practice which inspires children to grow, achieve and succeed. Away from teaching, Jennifer's passions include, travel, yoga, hiking, reading in the park and her beagle Hollie.

 

Joanna Bracewell - Year 2 Form Teacher 

Joanna graduated from Bristol University in 2007 having gained a 2:1 degree in Theatre, Film and Television. Since then she has been in Africa where she traveled and then lived for five months in Uganda, teaching in schools and looking after children in various orphanages. She is very keen to get involved in Knightsbridge school life, particularly drama, film and sport. 

 

Johanna Davies - Art Teacher

After graduating with a BA (hons) in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Exeter, Johanna spent much of the next 3 years living in the French Alps, working in the events and travel industry. Having returned to England, Johanna decided to follow her passion for teaching and trained and taught as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language. She then went on to complete her PGCE at Roehampton University and joined Knightsbridge School in September 2008. Johanna loves all sport, especially netball, hockey, skiing and horse riding and hopes her passion and experience will inspire and motivate the children at KS to give 100% in all activities.

 

Kate Horsfall - Teaching and Learning Assistant

Kate has recently joined the Nursery team which she is very excited about. She loves dancing and is a big fan of Bollywood. She has been a Care Assistant in Winchester Hospital for 2 years before joining KS and worked in a school in Nepal. She loves travelling, especially in The Middle East and India.

 

Laura Hurst-Bannister - Year 3 Class Teacher and Year Leader 

Having completed her training and NQT year in the city of Edinburgh, Laura moved to London and started working at Knightsbridge School in J2. She was a class teacher for two years in J2, before she moved to Reception as a class teacher. Laura is currently the J3HB class teacher and is looking forward to leading the J3 team. She has thoroughly enjoys getting involved in all areas of school life at Knightsbridge School.

 

Lisa McKinsey - Sport Teacher

Originally from New Zealand, Lisa left High School to study Physical Education and Teaching at the University of Otago for five years.  From here she moved on to teach Physical Education in Wellington, New Zealand for four years before embarking on an overseas expereince to work and travel in the UK.  She has thoroughly enjoyed and grown as an individual through travel and working abroad.  Lisa looks forward to working with younger children at KS and inspiring them with her huge passion for sport.

 

Lulu McClintock - S4 Form Teacher

Lulu returned to live in England just over two years ago having lived in Portugal for over 20 years. Lulu previously taught at Hill House before emigrating to Portugal where she set up a hotel. She then taught in an International School in the Algarve before moving to the Lisbon to work at St Julian's School. There she became a class 4 teacher and taught PSHCE and RE. On returning to England Lulu taught at Knighton House School in Dorset. Lulu's greatest achievement are her three wonderful children the oldest is completing his degree, the next just started and the youngest has just begun sixth form. Lulu is thrilled to be part of the team at Knightsbridge!

 

Marina Kassoyan - French, Dance and Sports Teacher, Clubs Coordinator 

Marina studied Sport Science for 3 years in France at the University of the Mediterranean. When she finished her degree she was accepted at the “IUFM”, the French Institute of Education, to qualify as a teacher. She has been teaching for 3 years in different primary and senior schools in the South of France. She has also organised sport trips (summer & winter) for the Education & Sports Committee of Provence for 6 years.

 

Marcus Dreike - Teaching and Learning Assistant

After leaving Kings College School Wimbledon, Marcus went on to graduate from Leeds University in 2002 with a 2:1 in Geography and Environmental Management. He went to work in the Television industry for two years, but his love of skiing then took him to the French Alps where he worked for a chalet company for four seasons. During the summer months Marcus ran his small property developing company in London and helped run his family charity which sponsors children to go to school in Africa. He has now decided that the happiest he has ever been was teaching children during his gap year at his old prep school in London and wants to pursue a career as a teacher. Marcus is a very keen traveller and passionate about sport.

 

Melody Sole – Reception Teacher

Melody studied in South Africa for her B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics and then went on to achieve a P.G.C.E. specialising in the Early Years. She has been teaching Early Years in London for the past 5 years and gained qualified teacher status in her first year abroad. She has taught in various areas of London, including Richmond and Notting Hill. She was previously at the Hellenic College since 2005.

 

Olivia Anniss - Reception Teaching Assistant

Olivia graduated from the University of the West of England in Bristol last summer with a B.A Hons in Drama and Psychology.  Having finished university she spent some time teaching English to underprivileged children in South America and gaining work experience with various schools in Sussex.  She has worked as Social Organiser for an international children's summer school and is now enjoying life at KS as a Teaching Assistant working towards qualified teacher status.  Olivia's interests include hockey, skiing and drama.

 

Ollie Baskett - Reception Teacher, Head of Foundation Stage

Ollie was educated at Stonar School for Girls in Wiltshire followed by Montessori teacher training and a 'CACHE management in the Early Years' course. She worked in a Montessori Nursery for a year, then as Deputy Headmistress of Eaton Square Schools Nursery followed by four years as a Reception class teacher at Eaton House School, Belgravia.

 

Raph deAlbuquerque - S4 Form Teacher

After leaving Marlborough College, Raph studied History of Art at Nottingham University where he also served on the editorial team of the University magazine. He joined the teaching profession in 2007 after 6 years working in the Music industry, marketing and promoting up and coming bands. He completed his teacher training through the GTP at Knightsbridge School in 2008 under the mentorship of Olivia Martin. The successful Guitar Club at KS has been a big passion for Raph over the last three years as well as being involved in all things sporting and musical. 

 

Sophie Pollock - Science Specialist and Year 6 Form Teacher

Sophie completed her PGCE in Biology with Integrated Secondary Sciences at the University of Bristol. She spent three years teaching GCSE and A level Science and Psychology prior to joining Knightsbridge School. Sophie teaches Senior Science in the brand new laboratory and is also an S6 Form tutor.

 

Tom O'Shea -  Juniors' Teaching Assistant

Tom graduated from the University of the West of England with a degree in Sociology in 2006. Since then he has been traveling in Southern Africa and Central America and has recently moved to London where he now lives. Tom assists with teaching Year 1, where he is working towards qualified teacher status. His interests include cricket, rugby, sailing, travel and children's literature.

 

Torty Hutton - Humanities Teacher 

After graduating from Newcastle University with a 2:1 in Geography, Torty achieved her PGCE at Roehampton University. She taught at Sir John Lillie Primary School in Fulham for three years. Torty then had a great year working in television for the BBC and Channel 4 but quickly realised a year away from teaching was one too many. As well as teaching, Torty is passionate about Singing and Switzerland.
