The Reception years are particularly significant in building the foundations of the Early Years Curriculum and for a child's continuing educational experience. The Reception classrooms have been specially designed to create a stimulating, warm and nurturing environment. Staff aim to develop children into well-rounded little people ready for the next stage of their learning journey.

The Reception curriculum is specific to each child at this stage; it incorporates early literacy and numeracy skills, as well as play-based philosophy, which links social interaction and theme-based learning. The day's structure is carefully designed to allow the children to develop the skills and attitudes to proceed with ease and competence to a more formal education programme. Specialist teachers instruct the children in Modern Foreign Languages, Performing Arts, ICT and Sport.
